Greetings Adventurers!

High above the city in a leaning tower of stone and copper, a lone Ferrovox balances precariously on a stack of books. Sparks crackle from a half-finished contraption at their feet. One paw holds a wand made from lightning glass, the other scribbles frantic notes in a floating notebook.

A spell misfires. A nearby tapestry bursts into blue flame. The Ferrovox grins.

This is the character you’ve created so far - a chaos-loving, spell-slinging tinkerer with arcane ambition to spare. 

The winner of the class poll is…The Mage! 🥳🎉


Mages are intellect-fuelled masters of the arcane. They shape reality, control the battlefield, and unleash devastating spells driven by raw focus and magical theory.

Combined with the clever, fast-talking Ferrovox, you’ve created a small but mighty magical menace - curious, chaotic, and constantly pushing the limits of what’s possible (and what’s wise).

But even this trickster has a past...

Your Kin defines who you are.
Your Class shapes what you do.
But your Background?... That’s your story.

✨ Mix and match backgrounds

Drakonym’s backgrounds add mechanics, perks, narrative prompts, and unique abilities that reflect the life your character lived before the game began. Whether you were a travelling bard, a cursed noble, or a dragon cult escapee… your past gives your present depth.


Throughout the game, your Background develops as you do - gaining Background Points as your story progresses! You can spend these points across any Background tree, not just the one you started with, unlocking new perks and adapting your playstyle as your character evolves.

Want a trickster Veil raised in a dragon-worshipping monastery? A hardened Fighter who used to be a smuggler? A Mage who was once a scholar... or a fraud?

It’s all possible - your background is shaped by your character choices, not rigid archetypes.

So far, our community character is a Ferrovox Mage. But what’s their story? 👇

There are 8 Backgrounds in the full game - each one shapes your character's life experience and social standing, granting initial perks, wealth, and other trinkets.

The free demo lets you try out four of them: Investigator, Charlatan, Wanderer, and Scholar - so you can start crafting your own dragon rider right away.

Today, we want you to choose from the other four:


Artisan: Masters of Craft and Creation, Artisans are dedicated to mastering crafting and enhancing objects, making them indispensable in mundane and mystical pursuits.


Noble: Born to Lead, Nobles are individuals of high birth or extraordinary merit, holding status and influence to command respect and inspire loyalty.


Outcast: Survivors of the Shadows, Outcasts are those who have lived on the fringes of society, shaped by hardship, resilience, and resourcefulness.


Veteran: Hardened by Battle, Veterans are individuals shaped by a life of combat, with their discipline, tactics, and resilience making them formidable and dependable.

It was a tight race, but you’ve spoken - the Ferrovox are your favorite Kin so far!



These sharp-witted, ferret-like wanderers are fast-talking, fiercely loyal, and always have a trick (or five) up their sleeves. Small in size, huge in personality. Whether they’re tinkering with strange devices or sneaking through ancient ruins, Ferrovox are full of curiosity, cleverness, and restless energy.

We’re absolutely obsessed - and clearly, you are too. 💜

✨ Next Up - Choose Your Class! 

We designed Drakonym’s character creation system to be highly flexible - no rigid archetypes, no locked-in builds, and absolutely no “correct” combinations. Every part of your character is yours to shape.

In our last poll, you chose your Kin, which defines your character’s appearance and heritage. Now it’s time to choose your Class - each with distinct mechanics, combat styles, and resource systems.


Acolytes are conduits of divinity. Most gain power from the gods beyond, while others take darker paths by making promises or pacts with those of celestial origin! 


Fighters are relentless warriors, wielding their weapons with precision, discipline, and overwhelming force. They are the frontline, the steadfast guardians, and the storm of steel that dictates the flow of battle.


Mages are masters of magical forces, shaping reality through intellect and control of the arcane. Mages harness raw energy, weaving powerful spells that manipulate the battlefield. 


Veils are masters of deception, agility, and precision strikes. They operate in the shadows relying on speed and cunning to take down enemies before they even know what hit them.

✨ Create a Character That’s Uniquely Yours

Drakonym is a game built on choice - personal, powerful, and full of story. Character creation is the first step in discovering who you are in the world of Akeroth.



With flexible Kin, Class, and Path combinations - and no locked archetypes - you can build almost anything. Even your Primary Attribute (your character’s core strength) asks you why it matters to them, tying your stats directly to their backstory.

Want to be a Gnawborn Ghost crafting puppets for battle? A Dogfolk Mage playing with chaotic new spells? An Adaphaen Gunslinger on a personal vendetta? You’ve got the freedom to create something totally unique.


✨ Kin in the World of Akeroth


Your Kin shapes your physical traits, height or wings, but they also tie into cultural values, traditions, and beliefs that influence your personality. 

There are 12 Kin in the full game, each with their own histories, talents, and roles in Akeroth. The free demo lets you try out four of them - Arbor, Drakari, Elf, and Gnawborn - and start crafting your own dragonbound hero.

The ultimate generalists. What they lack in innate magic, they make up for in adaptability, grit, and sheer determination. Humans are defined not by their origin, but by what they choose to become.


Born in the cold fire of Ekadell, the Infernai are fierce, winged survivors. With glowing eyes and infernal resilience, they’re driven by ambition and shaped by hardship.

✨ How Crowdfunding Campaigns Work

Whether this is your first time backing a campaign or you’re a seasoned backer, this is your intro guide to how our campaigns works, what your pledge supports, and what to expect:


✨ How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Backing a campaign isn’t the same as placing an order from an online shop. BackerKit Crowdfunding allows creators to raise funds to develop a project with the support of a community. As a backer, you’re pledging support before the final product is finished.



We’ve already put a huge amount of time and love into Drakonym, but the game is still in a pre-alpha stage. BackerKit Crowdfunding lets small creative teams like ours raise the support we need to finish that journey.
 
Your pledges will help cover the real, behind-the-scenes work that comes next - from refining systems and playtesting mechanics to developing digital support tools and printing physical rewards, and everything in between.

Backerkit runs as an all-or-nothing system. That means:

  • If the campaign reaches its funding goal by the deadline, your pledge is processed, and the project goes ahead.

  • If the goal isn’t reached, your card won’t be charged, and the project doesn’t move forward.

Backing Drakonym means having a seat at the table - not just as a future player, but as part of the game's creation. After the campaign, you’ll get access to exclusive playtesting, behind-the-scenes updates, and real opportunities to help shape Drakonym from the ground up.


✨ What Happens After the Campaign?

At Crossed Paths, every game we create is carefully forged: from polished mechanics and immersive writing to stunning visuals and thoughtful design. We don’t cut corners. We don’t rush to release. We care deeply about how our games feel, function, and inspire. Our games are slow-cooked, playtested, community-shaped, and built with care. We take the time to make something special.

Here’s what the process looks like after the campaign ends:


Writing and design are in full swing across every part of the game - refining mechanics, improving clarity, and sharpening the writing. New spells, stat combos, story prompts, and digital tools will take shape, guided by your feedback and input. You’ll get early access to playtest versions of Drakonym as soon as it’s ready, so you can explore and share your thoughts. Your feedback at this stage will help shape the very core of the game.


Development continues as we build on your feedback. We’ll run multiple rounds of testing, take feedback seriously, and use it to make meaningful improvements to how the game plays, feels, and flows. This is where we take the time to balance mechanics, sharpen narrative details, and together, shape a final version of Drakonym we can all be proud of.



This stage is where the final edits happen, like including layout, proofreading, and export troubleshooting. Once playtesting wraps and revisions are complete, we’ll deliver the finished digital game to all eligible backers!



While digital files are finalised, we’ll move into physical production - sampling all physical products and making adjustments to make sure every detail is ready for manufacturing. We test everything before it goes to print, ensuring every single component meets our high standards. It’s all about getting things just right before the presses roll.


Once all the samples are approved, full-scale manufacturing begins. This includes every component - books, cards, plushies, pins, boxes, maps, and more. Quality control checks happen throughout to ensure a consistent, high-standard final product.


With production complete, everything is shipped to our fulfillment partners. This involves transporting goods across borders, clearing customs, and ensuring everything arrives safely at regional warehouses. From there, products are checked, sorted, and logged into the system, ready to be packed into individual backer orders.


After passing through mandatory safety checks and customs, fulfillment begins. Orders are carefully packed and sent on their way to you, ready to be played, read, and enjoyed. (You’ll receive a tracking link via email once your rewards are on the move, so you can keep an eye on their journey.)


✨ What if things change?

We’re a small team, and projects like this have a lot of moving parts - especially when you're balancing creative development with physical production - and sometimes things need to shift.

If something changes, we’ll tell you. We’re committed to being open, honest, and clear about where we’re at, what’s going well, and what might need more time. You won’t be left guessing or chasing updates.

After the campaign ends, we share a progress update on the first Tuesday of every month, so you’ll always know what’s happening, what stage we’re at, and how things are moving forward.
