Drakonym continues to evolve, and this month brings some major developments!

📖 Core Rulebook: Closed

The Drakonym core rulebook is officially closed. No more changes, no more additions; the foundation of Drakonym is locked, polished, and ready!

This is a monumental milestone. The core rules that define the bond between rider and dragon, the mechanics of combat, the use of Shadow Die, spellcasting, lore and more, are all finalised.


🎮 Solo Rulebook: Our New Focus

With the core rules complete, our attention has turned to the solo rulebook. We're expanding and refining the solo mechanics to ensure players can experience the full depth of Drakonym, whether they are playing alone or with a group.

Two New Demos Arrive

To help you experience Drakonym, we've created two distinct demos:

The Journey Demo:
This is the full Level Zero experience. Through 20 narrative scenes, you will:

  • Discover your Kin
  • Choose your Class and Career
  • Meet and bond with your dragon
  • Learn every core mechanic in play: combat, spellcasting, battles
  • Come away with a fully playable Level 1 character

The Journey is fully playable solo or with a group - no Herald (GM) required. It's a complete introduction to what Drakonym is all about!



The Origins Demo:
New to Drakonym and feeling overwhelmed? Start here.

The Origins Demo is a shorter, gentler introduction that walks you through the basics of how Drakonym works. You'll learn the d6 mechanics, get comfortable with rolling dice, and understand the core flow, without being introduced to the Shadow Die or other advanced mechanics.

Think of it as a stepping stone to The Journey. It's perfect for absolute newcomers or for groups that want a quick taste before committing to the full experience.



Two Paths Into Drakonym:

Origins → Gentle introduction to d6 mechanics
The Journey → Full Level Zero with dragon bonding

Both are available now and fully playable!


What This Means:

Whether you're a curious newcomer or an experienced player, there's a Drakonym experience waiting for you. And with the core rulebook closed and the solo rulebook in focus, the game is becoming more complete every day.

This month brings huge news for Drakonym!

🐉 Sanctum Is Live - Full Drakonym Compendium + New Tools

The Drakonym compendium is now available on Sanctum, our digital hub for all Crossed Paths games. Featuring everything from bond perks to spells and more, Sanctum is the perfect reference point for anything Drakonym!



But that's not all. We've also launched two brand-new tools exclusively on Sanctum:

✨ Spell Card Builder - Create custom spell cards for your game
✨ Perk Card Builder - Design and print your own perk cards

These builders let you customise and save cards for your game, making it easy to bring your character’s abilities to life at the table!



Sanctum is launching in its initial form and will continue to grow with new features, updates, and content over time.

A New Challenge Unfolds

We are challenging you to show us your creations! Using the new Perk Card Builder on Sanctum, create an original dragon perk for Drakonym and submit them to the Quest Log in our Discord!

Rules:
  •  No generative AI
  •  All artwork must be credited (use your own art, public domain images, or credited sources)
  •  Submit in the Quest Log forum

Rewards:
  • 25 XP for participating
  • Grand Prize: The winning perk card will be recreated with official artwork and shared with the entire Crossed Paths community!

📖 The Book Is DONE

The Drakonym core rulebook is finalised. No more changes will be made. It's locked, polished, and ready for the next steps.

This is a huge milestone, and we couldn't have done it without your feedback, support, and patience throughout development.

Spell Rune System

We are also introducing the spell rune system. Now available on DriveThruRPG for all backers, this system teaches you how to record spells as diagrams, encompassing everything from the spell’s aspect to any augmentations you add.



Runic Circles can be used as puzzles to be solved or simply as a neat and succinct method of recording spells as players.

You can access the spell rune system in your DriveThruRPG library now, so you can start making your own runes right now.

Development on the Herald's Guide continues, and we're making fantastic progress! Here's what's been happening this month.

📖 Herald's Guide: Monster Section - 23% Complete

The monster section of the Herald's Guide is now 23% complete, and it's shaping up beautifully. Ash is creating a comprehensive bestiary of creatures for Heralds to use in their campaigns, complete with stats, behaviors, and story hooks.

But that's not all. Ash is also building a monster generator to help you create custom creatures on the fly. Whether you need a quick encounter or a fully fleshed-out antagonist, the generator will have you covered.

📜 Solo Rulebook Updates

The solo rulebook is getting some major additions! Ash is finalising new classes, careers, and paths specifically designed for solo play, and they'll be available for playtesting very soon.

Ash is also introducing all-new Wild & Bond Perks that are more solo-focused, giving you even more ways to deepen your bond with your dragon and navigate the world of Drakonym on your own!

February has been an exciting month for Drakonym, and we've got some major updates to share about new tools and features coming your way.

Herald's Guide Alpha - Now in Backers' Hands

Last month, we reached a huge milestone: the Herald's Guide went out to backers in its first alpha version!

This is the GM resource you've been waiting for; packed with tools, guidance, and resources for running Drakonym campaigns. The alpha version gives you an early look at what the Herald's Guide will offer, including advice on building emotionally resonant campaigns, managing the unique mechanics of Drakonym, and creating memorable sessions for your players.

We know this is an alpha release, which means it's still a work in progress. We're actively gathering feedback from backers who've received it, refining the content, and making sure the final version is as polished and useful as possible.

If you've had a chance to dive into the Herald's Guide, we'd love to hear your thoughts. Your feedback is invaluable as we continue development.


Sanctum Integration

Drakonym is also being integrated into Sanctum, our all-in-one digital hub for the Akeroth universe. 
Sanctum will house everything you need to play and run Drakonym digitally, including:

  • Dragon databases with full stats and lore
  • Character creation and management tools
  • Searchable abilities, traits, and bond mechanics
  • Resources for GMs running Drakonym campaigns

Sanctum is being built to be the central platform for all things Akeroth, and Drakonym will be a core part of that ecosystem.
Whether you're a player tracking your dragon's growth or a GM preparing for a session, Sanctum will have the tools you need in one convenient place.


What's Next

We'll have more detailed updates on Sanctum integration as development continues. We're excited to share more with you!

And as always, we're continuing to refine the Herald's Guide based on your feedback. The alpha is just the beginning, and the final version will be even better.
